Match report: Pursuers 2 v 2 Parklife
Tuesday 17 May 2005
Report by by Hugh Levens of The Scottish Pun (AKA Robert Dawson)
Pursuers played there last home game of the season at Bearsden against fellow basement boys Parklife in what was billed as the "Battle of 2nd bottom".
Pursuers yet again failed to start and found themselves 2 goals down within the first 10 minutes and looking like a team that had never played together.
After that the remainder of the 1st half was totally dominated by Pursuers, with some great football being played down the left by Mick, Martin and Jon Mcleish.
It was no surprise when Pursuers pulled one back before half time when some neat football between Martin and Chris allowed Jon McLeish to finish into the bottom corner.
1-2
Pursuers continued to dominate the remainder of the 1st half taking full advantage of the extra man in the middle of the park and the strong running of S Komolafe and Jon McLeish.
HT 1-2
The second half seen Pursuers play up the famous Bearsden slope but this did not effect their football in any way and is was no surprise when they equalised. A driven in corner my Martin was met by Dawson, who had managed to loose his 8ft 6' marker and headed the ball into the roof of the net.
2-2
Parklife were now on the backfoot and were no simply launching the ball into the air at any given opportunity. Pursuers backline seemed more organised at the back with Narey sweeping up on the few occasions that the ball did get beyond Mohan and F Komolafe.
Coach Kane then made a triple substitution on came Kenny, Byrne and Steven for Mir, S Komolafe and Mick.
Last change of the evening fell to Dawson when a Stephen cross missed the last defender and Dawson managed to head the ball past the keeper only to hit the inside of the post and land safely into the hand of the Parklife goalie.
Pursuers just about managed to keep their heads despite being kicked both on and off the ball and the referees failure to take the appropriate action in the circumstances.
Pursuers wind up a disappointing campaign away to Allander this Saturday morning.
